My Tattoo Story

I have always loved tribal tattoos. I had a few people joke asking what tribe I was from, har har. Tribal tattoos just look so awesome because they move with the body and they’re just so simple and effective. I think I loved them the moment I saw George Clooney with his arm done in Dusk until Dawn. There’s a lot of different types of tribal but I prefer the solid black kind because I think it looks better. I have a lot of tribal tattoos, this one started as just the bit in the middle, you can see it’s a bit paler than the other part that is newer. I added on to it about 5 years after the first one was done. This girl that works with my wife tattoos and she’s pretty good I think. It hasn’t got any meanings or anything, it’s not like real tribal tattoos but it still looks good. I never really thought about getting a tattoo with meaning, but I know some of the real tribal tattoos have meaning for different part of your life.

When and Where

I got the tattoo done in our kitchen one evening after Emily and Sarah got off work. they came home and we worked on it for a couple of hours. It was a really good experience because I got to relax at home while getting tattooed and it didn’t matter if I made faces or anything while getting the tribal tattoo since no one was watching, but Emily made up for it by laughing at me. I wasn’t worried about not getting the tribal tattoo done in a studio, I got a great deal on it and she used all new stuff so it was ok. I would definitely think about getting tattooed at home again cos it meant we didn’t have to worry about the kids etc.

The Experience

It was awesome. Like I said getting tattooed at home was definitely a plus cos there was no pressure or other people around. I wasn’t nervous, it’s just a tattoo but we definitely spent a lot of time. It’s all freehand work, the artist took markers and drew on the tribal tattoo from scratch so it’s totally unique. The worst part was up on the underside where it gets kinda close to my armpit.

The Future

Probably more tribal tattoos. I dont really like picture tattoos and I wouldnt want to get a name so I think it would have to be more tribal.
