My Tattoo Story

I have a lot of flower tattoos. A LOT. I love flower tattoos and I couldnt imagine getting anything else. These lillies grow everywhere where I live in summer and I think they’re just the prettiest sight. I went through a phase of getting tattoos about once a week, they were different flowers all on the same leg next to each other, you can see the rose next to it that I got a couple of weeks before. I only started getting tattoos recently so it was kinda new to me and I guess I went a little crazy there for a bit. The lilies tattoo does not have any meaning to me but the fact that when I see those flowers I think of home so i guess it reminds me of that. I hadn’t planned the lilies tattoo, hadn’t planned on getting any other tattoos at all. I like flowers because they’re kinda neutral, they dont have any meanings and they just look good.

When and Where

I got the tattoo done at Skin City in Durham NC. The artists were all super friendly. It’s right off of i40 so its a really easy place to find, esp since they have like a massive sign outside so it’s hard to miss it. The place is right up 15-501 from UNC where I go to school. There are closer studios but I was with friends that day so that’s where we went. I’m not from around here so the lillies tattoo is definitely not hometown. The artists name is Todd.

The Experience

It was pretty awesome. I’ve had a few tattoos in my life so far and there were more than enough that were good and bad experiences alike. I was definitely not nervous getting the tattoo done. I’d gotten so many in succession at the time that it just seemed like nothing anymore. The lilies tattoo only took about 40minutes to do. It was really quick compared to some of my other tattoos. It really didn’t hurt so bad, the rose flower tattoo is actually on my shin bone and that hurt like a mofo. If the lilies tattoo was bigger I might have been nervous but I guess where I’d gotten so many it seemed like nothing.

The Future

I will definitely be getting more flower tattoos. I want to get more flowers but I’m not sure what kind.I like bright noticeable colors and flowers so it will have to be something eye catching. Maybe something like a sunflower because it’s so recognizable.
