My Tattoo Story

My bestest Drea drew this for me. She kinda drew something similar but the artist said it was too small to tattoo and had to redraw some of it different. I love the swirls in and out of the heart, those are my favourite part. It’s supposed to fade from black to grey at the top but it kinda ended up all being like a grey black color. I still love it and I want to add some more swirleys coming down onto my foot.

The tattoo was supposed to be just for us as best friends, we were both going to get the same thing but she couldn’t finish hers so she only has part of it done. We got it just after we graduated high school (Go Cavs!!) in 09 because we were both going to different colleges and wanted something to remember our friendship. We kinda drew it together because I found this heart with some swirls online and she just doodled it up while we were in class one day.

When and Where

I got it done at Star City Tattoos in Roanoke VA in 2009 but the studio isn’t there anymore so I dunno where they are now. It was really easy to find because it was right off the interstate by the mall. There’s a different studio there now but I heard some of the same people work there now. Their work is really awesome so you should definitely go there and check them out. The girl that did it her name was Debi she moved away to NC.

The Experience

EXCRUCIATING!!! OMG I have never had anything hurt sooooooooo bad. It’s on my ankle and it just burned so freaking bad when she got onto the bony part. It was both our first tattoos so we didn’t know what to expect. She did tell me it was going to hurt but I didnt think it would burn so bad. The outline hurt less than the shading. My foot fell asleep because I had to sit in a funny way for her to get to it. I know I dug my nails really hard into the table because I actually split one. I really thought I was going to quit a few times. I cried a lot when she filled it in. It felt like she was just burning me with a blowtorch over and over again.

The studio was super clean and I really loved the fact that the rooms all closed off so no one outside had to see. It was just me and Drea and Debi in there so that made me feel a lot more relaxed that people didn’t keep looking in at us.

The Future

I really really wanted to get more tattoos after this one. I ended up getting some little stars and stardust behind my left ear. It’s really cute but I have to keep it covered because my mom still hasn’t seen it yet. I want to get something on my lower back but I haven’t decided what yet. I think some of the tattoos there look trashy so I want to be sure it’s what I want first.
